Young Arts

"Young Arts" at the Arts Society Dover Deal and Sandwich (ASDDS) works to encourage young people living within the ASDDS area to develop an interest in the arts. At the moment, it makes awards to students on the completion of their Foundation Year course at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) at Canterbury. In conjunction with The Arts Society of Sandwich it is also making awards to the two "Most Promising Arts Students" working at A level in each of four local schools.

In the past the ASDDS has also worked with the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate to enable children from local primary schools to partake in study days at the gallery as well as enabling students from four schools in the area to visit the annual Turner Prize exhibition when it was held there.

Taking advantage of the generosity the national Arts Society, the ASDDS made an award of £250 to Deal Arts which organises music classes and organises music groups as well as the Deal Art Festival.

Possible future projects include working with Deal Arts and working to develop and aid art teaching in a local primary school.
