Our membership year runs from 1 November to 31 October and the current fee for 2025/26 is £50 per person, payable in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer. To attend a lecture as a guest the fee is £7 per lecture. We would prefer you to pay by on line bank transfer as we are now charged bank fees. More information is available from the Membership Secretary via: Joining the Committee The Dover Deal and Sandwich Arts Society has varied monthly lectures interspersed with study days all delivered by well informed and energetic speakers. Members also enjoy a range of outings, visits, tours, and informal coffee mornings which gives everyone the opportunity to socialise informally and take part. Our membership is drawn from a wide spectrum of local people and this give it its vibrancy. As with many similar organisations we rely on a small group of members to make sure it all runs smoothly, otherwise known as the committee and you will know most of us as we all have specific roles (please see below). We are a cohesive group and enjoy our responsibilities. We meet on the first Monday of each month (except July and August) and review the past month’s lecture. We want members to feel confident they are receiving good value for their yearly subscription. Certainly, the feedback on the lectures, our outings, tours, and visits to historic venues and galleries all receive very good ratings. It’s equally important to keep the committee vibrant and that we pass our experience to others to ensure our society continues and develops and keeps attracting interested people. As you read this we very much hope you’ll think how you could become more involved. Joining the committee would be a great way to do this. It does involve putting some time aside and usually members do at least three years on the committee. Please do think about it. You will be made most welcome. Chris is a member of The Arts Society Kent Area committee which is a half-way house between local societies and the head office. Hon Secretary (Sandra Dearden) Sandra takes the minutes of committee meetings and does so much behind the scenes. Hon Treasurer (Linda Jenkins) Linda manages our finances and ensures they comply with head office strictures. Young Art (Mike Judd) Mike develops his contacts to encourage Young Arts within local schools which is one of our core purposes. Outings Secretary (Betty Flint) Betty arranges our outings and visits which involves liaising with travel companies and staff at selected venues, as well as recording members interested in coming. Programme Secretary (Jac Dunay) Jac selects future lecture and study day speakers for our yearly programme. Publicity (Josephine Long) Josephine produces our eye-catching posters and flyers and manages all matters relating to publicity. Membership Secretary (Denise Lyon) Denise keeps track of our membership and manages the circulation of our letters and communication with members. Website (Tim Mottishaw) Tim manages the Society website, Facebook Page and assists Malcolm with the IT & AV equipment. IT & AV equipment (Malcolm Hall) Malcolm sets up and supports the computer, projector and sound system during meetings and ensures these are kept up to date. Past Chair (Elspeth McVey) Elspeth supports the committee with her expertise as a past Chair. |
